have installed the CELLS software per the email instructions you must refer to
the QUICK START MANUAL and do the following two
sections or the software will not operate. After you install the software
there will be icon to the QUICK START MANUAL and also it is located at
1 - CONNECTING THE ODBC DRIVER TO THE DATABASE: For this demonstration the sample database we will be using is Microsoft Access. CELLS complies with Microsoft’s ODBC database standard and therefore can be used with any ODBC compliant database such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc. To setup the ODBC link to the ACCESS database: 1) From WINDOWS click START, SETTING and CONTROL PANEL. 2) In the CONTROL PANEL folder click ODBC DATA SOURCES (Note: If you do not see the ODBC DATA SOURCES icon then click ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS then click DATA SOURCES ODBC). 3) Then click the SYSTEM DSN tab, click ADD, then select MICROSOFT ACCESS DRIVER (*.MDB), then click FINISH and a new window will open. 4) In the DATA SOURCE NAME field type CELLS in the DESCRIPTION field type CELLS then click the SELECT button and point to C:\PROGRAM FILES\CELLS\CELLS32.MDB, click OK and close out the open Windows.
2 - ADD THE DOCUMENT PATH VARIABLE: For WINDOW 2000, NT and XP users- For WINDOWS 2000 and XP systems go to CONTROL PANEL, then go to SYSTEM, click ADVANCED, click ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES. Then under SYSTEM VARIABLES select NEW, set the VARIABLE NAME to CELLSDOC (all caps) and VARIABLE VALUE to c:\program files\cells and close all the windows. For WINDOWS NT systems go to CONTROL PANEL, then go to SYSTEM, ENVIRONMENT and SYSTEM VARIABLES. Select VARIABLE NAME to CELLSDOC and VARIABLE VALUE to c:\program files\cells click SET and click APPLY and close the window.
For WINDOWS 95, 98 and ME users- Locate the AUTOEXEC.BAT file; it should be in the C:\ root directory. Note the file attribute maybe hidden on AUTOEXEC.DOC. If it is hidden then we need to remove the HIDDEN attribute for now by right clicking the AUTOEXEC.DOC in Windows Explorer, then select PROPERTIES, remove the check box from the HIDDEN item, click OK. Add the following line to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file: SET CELLSDOC=C: \PROGRAM FILES\CELLS
Your configuration is finished and the CELLS MES software is fully operational. You can skip to the “STARTING THE SOFTWARE” section in the QUICKSTART MANUAL.
We also suggest that you watch the tutorial which displays most features of the software.
